Of Pug and Bison (treats)

Sorry folks, I haven't been a super-pugger-blogger....it's been a while between postings, and my humans have been bugging me for stuff. Well, lets just say that I'm the pug, they're the humans...

Anyways, I have been a busy pug, going to daycare, goin to Granma's house, and the best of all....My mommy drove me to my new favorite Booteek...Dog Bone Alley, and got me some new delicious treats! They're from an animal called a "Bison." They were SUPER delcious! But there's a problem...My lil pug body doesn't do beef very well, and Bison are a beef cousin. On Sunday, I got sick with the poopy squirts and threw up precious foods! Mommy thinks it may have been the Bison tendon treats, but then she told Daddy about my (almost) bad behavior at the doggie park. I was rolling in and eating something strange, but it tasted good! Daddy thinks the stuff in the doggie park (he called it a carcass?) may have gotten me sick.

So, I was supposed to goto to my favorite doggie daycare on Monday, but instead, stayed home with Daddy, and slept on his lap until the sun was bright and hot! Not only that, he made me my most favorite meal ever: CHICKEN BREAST! Delicious chicken breast!!! Here's the kicker, though, he only gave me a tiny bit, something about throwing it up, blah blah blah. My tummy is feeling tons better, so maybe I'll get more.

I don't think I'll be able to stop my pug ways of eating everything on the ground. But I am trying my hardest! Afterall, I'm almost 1, and I have to start thinking like a grown up pug, but that doesn't mean I have to stop being my goofy self!

  1. You touched on a tender (haha) topic, my friend, and I love that you brought up the importance of NOT eating everything that you think is delicious that is supposed to stay on the ground/floor! Also, eating raw meat is a very good diet for all dogs who want to live a long, healthy life. My coonhound, Daisy, eats a partial raw diet and she is much healthier than when we first adopted her!

  2. Bellatrix! I had the same thing happen to me at a playground. I STILL don't know which of the smelly but yummy things I ate made me sick but UGH was I sick!!!! I even made my humans take me to the emergency clinic. I really liked the doctor there so it turned out to be an almost cool experience . . . except for the tummy ache . . . and except for the squirts . . . and except for the limited and light rations for 5 days . . . I guess it wasn't so cool after all. Sigh.

  5. We hope your tummy feels better soon. I hate to say it, but those bully sticks make us sick too. Just doesn't digest well I guess. But sooooooo good. Such is life.
Did you make it over to our blog and see the pic of you in the canoe? You were very brave!

  6. Poor Bella! We're so glad to hear that you're better now. Sounds like you have a sensitive tummy. Yoda was the same way our human was always watching what he ate. Phoebe could eat toxic waste & be okay... she's always getting in trouble for things she finds in the park. What's a pug to do?

  7. Thanks so much everyone for your well wishes. Mom and dad know I have a sensitive tummy, and mom isn't convinced the bison treat is the culprit. I had a fever too, and heavy pantings...so I really think I caught something at the dog park. Mom didn't take me to the usual park, I went to an alternative park, so she thinks that's where I got sick.
Get this....Spencer's mommy was sick too, do you think I gave it to her? I would get sad if I did. I love her oodles and made sure to send her lots of pug happy thoughts.

  8. I'm glad you're better. And getting to eat chicken.

If it makes you feel any better I am 2 and still eat stuff off the ground. Not even good stuff like carcasses. Well, you know about my woodchip problem.

Keep feeling better. And if you need to, uh, dispose of any bison - let me know :)

  9. Puglet you can totally have the bison! I just hope it doesn't upset your tummy like it did mine. I'm not even tempted to eat it again...well I am, but I'm not going to. hehe

  11. Hi Bellatrix! Not cool about getting the poopy squirts - yuk! I don't really eat anything I find on the ground outside but anything that falls on the floor in the house is mine. I'm not really picky.

At least you got to stay home with your daddy and have chicken. That sounds like a perfect day to me.

  12. Hi Belly,
I am glad you are feeling better. What a bummer that this all happened in conjunction with the bully sticks. Now you'll never know. One time Mommy let me and Brigitte out(BS,before Sluggo) in the yard in the morning, and we found something in the way back that was really tasty. So we didn't listen when Mommy was calling us in. She saw we were eating something and came running out (in her underware and tshirt) and pulled baby bunny guts out of our mouth. She was screaming and freaking out. Thankfully we didn't get sick from it and it was really early so Mom doesn't think anybody saw her fit.
We mostly don't eat strangestuff anymore, but I can't promise I never will.
